One of the highlights of spring is adventuring at Grandpa Beatty's ranch.
It is a treasured Easter tradition, but the weather was too cold and rainy this year.
We decided to wait a few weeks and try again.....with no luck. You guessed it - cold and rainy.
So when Eva and Jason came to town this weekend and expressed a desire to have a family picnic at the ranch, we didn't hold our breaths.
The weather forecast? Cold and rainy.
However, we collectively decided to chance it and headed out Saturday morning - in spite of a few dark clouds. I'm so glad we did; the weather cooperated wonderfully. It was a little windy, but that is par for the ranch.
We had the typical "Beatty ranch experience". This includes:
Riding the four wheelers,
Hanging out with cousins (you gotta love the matching braces!),
Horsing around with Grandpa,
Exploring the farm machinery,
Bringing along a trusty gun for some hunting,
Working in the kitchen with Grandma,
....and getting so tuckered out you fall asleep on the drive home!
The only thing that would have made it better is if Bronson and DEl had been able to come. Bronson was at work, and DEl spent the weekend in Reno preparing for the Miss Nevada Pageant.
I guess this gives us the perfect excuse to plan another ranch excursion soon :)
