Two days before leaving for Salt Lake City, we held a sendoff party for Krissia. She played her talent, participated in a mock interview, and modeled her wardrobe. We had a wonderful time and are grateful to those who came and supported our daughter. Here are a couple of pics from that day:

Monday morning found DEl, Krissia, and myself on the road bright and early. Upon our arrival in Salt Lake City, we checked Krissia into her hotel (all the contestants stay together) then killed a few hours until the first event.
The "Show Me Your Shoes" parade was held Monday evening at Gardner Village in West Jordan. This event isn't judged, but rather is a fun way for the contestants to represent their personalities. Krissia wore some awesome footwear designed to show off her athletic prowess (thank you, Randy Paul). Unfortunately, Krissia's golf cart driver floored it pretty much the entire time, so this was the best picture I could get:
On Tuesday, Krissia had her private interview with the judges. She walked out of the interview feeling great, boosting her confidence level for the other areas of competition.
Interview was followed by the beginning of the preliminary nights. Wednesday was Krissia's evening wear competition, and she looked so beautiful and graceful:

Each contestant was asked to invite a "Little Miss" to accompany her on stage for the week. Krissia asked McCall Gates, the youngest daughter of our good friends Daren and Crystelle, to be her Little Miss. She was so cute, and seemed so happy each time she came out on stage:
Thursday night was talent...and again, Krissia rocked it. She played Concerto in A minor by Edvard Grieg set to a modern, remix-type background. She also looked stunning in her blue talent dress:

Krissia finished out her preliminaries with swimsuit on Friday night. I believe this is the night our group had the largest attendance; we even have a few missing from the first picture:

There was a breakfast held for the contestants and their parents on Saturday morning. At this time, we were able to meet Krissia's roommate, Miss Murray:
Miss Murray is also an athlete (boxer), so she and Krissia hit it off quite well. I know that having a good roommate made Krissia's week run a little smoother :)
Saturday night, the top 10 was announced and the competition began all again. Many of you know that Krissia made the top 10... but may not know her name wasn't called until the very last. Talk about heart attack!! She brought her A game that night, shining in every part of the competition. Although she didn't make it into the royalty, Krissia truly gave it her all...and we are so proud of her! I'm sure she gained many experiences and made many friends throughout this unforgettable week :)

I haven't seen a picture of Kenna forever. She look so cute and grown up! It was fun spending the week up there with you. Krissia did awesome.
Isn't she the first one of all our pagent family to make a top 10 at Miss Utah? Great job Krissia! I love the badges. I would go just to get a badge. Kenna looks like she is growing into a nice young girl.
